He has over 26 years of experience with energy projects in the commercial and industrial sectors. He has experience designing green field power plants (system engineer), project managing multimillion-dollar projects, managing a consulting firm’s clean tech business unit and now focuses his efforts on bringing the system’s engineering approach to energy projects in the industrial sector. Chris has been involved in all developmental states of projects including technology development, system concept development, product development, industrial energy projects, site engineering, and project management.

Chris is a registered member of EGBC and is a Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP).

Flyn has over fifteen years of experience with energy and carbon management in the industrial sector. He has expertise in carbon management for oil and gas, mining, pulp and paper, and the clean energy sector. He has worked with clients around the world in the development of emissions reduction projects and on-site energy and carbon management programs, energy management information systems, and large-scale energy and carbon projects. He has performed the roles of auditor, project manager, consultant, and corporate energy and carbon manager. Flyn has an excellent understanding of how to help sites and corporate offices develop their energy and carbon management culture.

• Site specific ISO 50001 energy and carbon management information systems as a reporting standard to collect the data necessary for benchmarking.
• Developed a corporate GHG reporting program for GHG data collection to report externally to the Carbon Disclosure Project, Dow Jones Sustainability Index as well as internal CSR reports.
• Developed baselines, benchmarks and annual emissions intensity reports for 20 silver and gold mines (10 joint venture) based on ISO 14064 reporting and ISO 50001 standardized metrics.
• As a certified auditor, prepared ISO 14064 GHG Validation and Verification.
• Worked with mines to develop Energy/Carbon reduction plans to meet ISO 50001 standards.
• Developed an internal information base of metals mining best practices for energy efficiency

Flyn was the team lead of the Canadian Mining Innovation Council (CMIC) Energy Group from 2013 to 2016 and chair of the Canadian Industrial Program for Energy Conservation (CIPEC) BC General Manufacturing, from 2014 to 2016.

He has over 20 years of experience leading diverse teams in project execution, product development, operations support, and safety management. Ian’s experience includes implementation of communications systems in the metropolitan rapid transit sector, development of high-tech clean-energy systems for the transit, tier-1 automotive, and back-up power sectors, and consulting engineering and construction management in the primary resource sector. Prior to joining SysEne, Ian was the Manager of Test Engineering at Ballard Power Systems, where he also served as the Product Architect for large-scale distributed power generation products and as the Manager, Continuation Engineering for Systems Platforms, including motive and stationary power products. Ian has a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Sciences degree from The Colorado College and a Master of Engineering degree from McGill University. He completed the Executive MBA Program at Simon Fraser University, where he was awarded the Graduate Dean’s Convocation Medal as the most outstanding graduate student from the Faculty of Business. Ian is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys living amongst the coast mountains of British Columbia.

With over 24 years of experience in the defense, aerospace and maritime industries, Munish brings a wealth of experience in applying systems engineering and business strategy to complex programs and product development. Munish is an expert in real time mission critical systems, automation and control systems, software intensive systems and systems know-how. After earning a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Munish began his career in the Indian Navy as a frontline radar and weapon systems engineer and worked for 16 years in various positions both onboard ships and ashore, including in the Navy’s technology development division. Mid-career, while still an active naval officer, Munish earned his Master of Engineering with a specialization in communication and digital signal processing from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Retiring from the Navy with the rank of Commander & Joint Director (Systems Engineering), Munish soon established himself in the private sector, working in the aerospace, defense and material automation industries in Canada, where he implemented his extensive experience in complex product development and systems integration.

Rob is a Senior Project Engineer with twenty years of experience, in the Western-Canadian oil and gas industry. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary and has worked in all aspects of the industry, including; academic research, manufacturing, EPC, production & processing, and technical consulting. His experience encompasses facilities ranging from green-field thermal oil facilities to legacy sour gas processing plants and refineries. He brings a wide range of skills, including; energy and GHG emissions assessments, low-carbon fuel switching studies, process optimization, project scoping, cost estimation, management of change (MOC), process hazard assessment (HAZOP), and the development of technical/corporate processes and procedures. He has experience with emissions and environmental reporting, including NPRI and AEIR, and has successfully submitted applications for a variety of government and utility funding streams.

Dave is an experienced Project Manager with over twelve years of industrial experience in project management, waste management, and process optimization. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from UBC. Over his career, he has consistently delivered projects safely, on time, and on budget. He excels at understanding both the technical details and the big picture, as well as at managing multiple projects and priorities. Dave served as engineering manager for the Cache Creek Landfill, managing a $6M landfill expansion project, construction, operation, and maintenance of a 4.8 MW landfill gas to electricity plant, and a $12M closure and groundwater treatment plant project. Dave has significant experience in auditing and developing corporate energy and carbon management programs for the industrial sector.

Majid brings over 35 years of process engineering and project management experience in the oil & gas sector. He holds a Master’s degree in Petrochemical Engineering from Tehran Polytechnic and earned his doctorate in Chemical Engineering from the University of British Columbia. Majid provides significant expertise in thermodynamics and fluid mechanics and is proficient at process simulation and pipeline hydraulics using multiple software platforms. His experience encompasses all aspects of oil and natural gas production, processing and transportation. Majid enjoys generating innovative solutions for energy conservation and emissions reduction projects including Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS). Majid was recently the Executive VP Engineering and Chief Technology Officer for LNG Newfoundland and Labrador, supervising the development of a 5 MMTPA liquification and export terminal. He has authored over 100 technical papers, served as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering, and was the Chair of the Technical Advisory Committee for the Center for Marine Compressed Natural Gas.

Laurie has over 20 years of experience in operations and project management, metallurgy and consulting. He worked in copper and lead-zinc-silver sulphide concentrators and smelters and collaborated to enhance economics across the mine to market process chain. His roles include managing the second largest zinc concentrator in the world. During challenging market conditions in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Laurie developed a sharp understanding of cost and revenue drivers to maintain profitability. He has a comprehensive understanding of by-product metal recovery, water management, and environmental management of residues and impurities at mines, smelters and refineries.

Laurie graduated from University of Queensland in Minerals Process Engineering and is a Professional Engineer in B.C., Canada. He completed his MBA at UC Berkeley in 2010 with the Certificate in Engineering and Business Sustainability for coursework in life cycle assessment, environmental engineering, climate change mitigation and metrics of sustainability.

Anil has seven years of experience in energy and carbon management projects. As a project engineer, he has completed plant-wide energy studies for numerous industrial sites in the mining and oil & gas sectors. His experience includes identification of energy conservation measures, cost-benefit analysis, feasibility studies, fuel switching, renewable energy projects, energy and emission forecasting, target settings and benchmarking. He is also familiar with energy management systems, measurement and verification, and evaluation software such as RETScreen® Expert. He holds a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta and IIT-Guwahati, specializing in Fluids and Thermal Sciences.

Daniela is an MSc. Chemical Engineer with over nine years of experience in energy management and operational performance evaluations in the oil and gas Industry. She is currently working towards her MSc. in Energy Management at NYIT in Vancouver, BC. She is consistently recognized for performance excellence and contributions to success in energy and GHG performance improvement. She has completed plant-wide energy studies for numerous oil and gas facilities and was formerly the Energy and Carbon Manager for Pemex. Her experience includes identification of energy conservation measures, cost-benefit analysis, energy conservation and fuel-switching feasibility studies, renewable energy projects, energy and emissions forecasting, target settings and benchmarking. She is also familiar with energy management systems, measurement and verification, and evaluation software such as RETScreen® Expert. Daniela’s expertise in energy usage analysis and Energy Management Systems is backed by certifications in Energy Management (CEM), and Lead Auditor in ISO 50001:2018 (IRCA).

Deniz is a mining engineer and a sustainability professional with over 15 years of project management and consulting experience in the mining, environmental and energy sectors. He has worked for intergovernmental, academic and non-profit organizations and industrial clients in Canada, the USA and internationally. Besides spatial, qualitative, and quantitative analyses and assessment methodologies, he specialized in baselining, benchmarking, integrating, and managing sustainability in the natural resource sectors before joining SysEne. At SysEne, Deniz focuses on decarbonization, environment, social, governance (ESG), climate change, risk assessment, carbon management and accounting projects for industrial clients.

Nancy has over ten years of experience working in the energy conservation and carbon management sector. She holds a degree in Power Engineering from the Hebei University of Technology and a certificate in Sustainable Energy Management from BCIT. She has working experience in validating and verifying greenhouse gas emissions reductions for energy conservation, efficiency improvement, renewable energy, and fuel switching projects. Nancy has verified projects in both the commercial and industrial sectors and helped clients in quantifying their energy and emissions savings to minimize their carbon footprint. She has also evaluated corporate energy and carbon management programs and is familiar with NRCan EMIS guidelines.
